Celebrating a treemendous day
Today we’re planting you down to talk about National Tree Day - an annual event that calls on all Australians to get their green thumbs going and give back to the community. Around 300,000 volunteers each year help educate others about the world, conduct environmental activities, and plant up a million new native trees and shrubs across the country. Here at Victoria’s Great Otway National Park there are plenty of trees to admire, like Maits Rest’s stunning fern gullies or giant beech trees - some of which are up to 300 years old.
Celebrating the event in 2020 might look a little different than usual, but that’s not to say you can’t make a difference at home and plant a small tree in your own backyard!
