Ring-necked parakeets. Ring-necked parakeets at the Chambal Sanctuary

The rose-ringed parrot, also known as the ring-necked parakeet, is a common sight in India, especially in rural areas. While the bird was originally native to Africa and South Asia, it has now been introduced to various parts of the world thanks to pet trade, and where feral numbers of the bird have made home. Can all parrots talk? We can’t really be sure, but that doesn’t stop these two from telling us they are enjoying the joys of freedom on a lovely day in the National Chambal Gharial Wildlife Sanctuary, Madhya Pradesh.
