The angel of Central Park. A wonderland in winter

There’s no shortage of activities in Manhattan’s Central Park, even when winter covers the park in snow. Here in the uh, central part of Central Park is Bethesda Fountain – one of the largest fountains in New York. The sculpture in the middle is known as Angel of the Waters, an eight-foot bronze angel who stands above four small cherubim representing health, purity, temperance and peace. Designed by Emma Stebbins in 1868 and unveiled in 1873, it’s the only statue that was part of the park’s original design.
