Prusik Peak in the Enchantments of Washington state, USA
The eminently photogenic Prusik Peak is just one of many incredible sights that inspired the name of this upper and lower basin area of the Cascade Range in Washington state. When European and American explorers began mapping out the region, they gave fairytale-like names to the features of the lower basin (Gnome Tarn, for instance) and Norse mythology names for the upper basin (such as Valhalla Cirque). Some of those mystical names didn’t stick, but the area is still listed on maps as the Enchantments.
