Busting a big move
Disko Bay isn't just for Saturday night fever: Humpback whales are ready to boogie any day of the week. These iceberg-dotted waters off western Greenland are a popular pit stop for humpbacks, which migrate thousands of miles a year between chill zones like this and hotspots in the tropics. The best time to see these big mammals hit the Disko dance floor? That'd be just after the sea ice melts in late spring, bringing tasty plankton and tiny fish to the warming surface for the whales to gobble en masse.
