A film-famous fall
Skógafoss plummets over sheer cliffs that long ago marked the land's end in this island country. Almost 200 feet tall—and about half as wide when flowing its hardest—the massive cascade roars where Iceland's coast once dropped straight off into the ocean. The coastline receded long ago, stranding the glacier-fed fall about 3 miles inland. Now it's a popular stop on Iceland's Ring Road, thanks partly to pop culture appearances in 'Game of Thrones' and the 'Thor' franchise.
