A salty spectacle

Different folks will see different things when they gaze on the big, beautiful blank canvas of the Bonneville Salt Flats. To a chef, it's reassurance that the world's most important seasoning is in high supply, as 90% of the surface here is plain old table salt. To a filmmaker, it's anything from a distinctive Utah establishing shot to a surreal sci-fi setting. And to a daredevil on wheels, it's the perfect wide-open space for impressive stunts: The land speed record has been broken here multiple times.
