A flippered facepalm

Tradition here in Britain says to keep a stiff upper lip, but we all get overwhelmed sometimes—just ask this seemingly world-weary grey seal pup. It's possible the little paddler is just a bit hangry. After they're weaned off their mother's fat-rich milk, young grey seals spend a few weeks fasting before they hit the high seas to hunt their own fishy prey. Once they do, though, it's a whole new set of pinniped problems: predator threats, competition with other seals, human-made obstacles like fishing nets, and the list goes on. Buckle up, pup: Grey seals have been noted to live over 40 years, so you're in for a long ride.
