Mariachis, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico
The roots of mariachi music draw from a variety of sources and influences. Though the music dates back to at least the 18th century in Western Mexico, the modern version most of us are familiar with features string and brass instruments, one or more singers – and the final detail of the charro clothing, once worn exclusively by skilled horse riders.
