Celebrating the tropics. International Day of the Tropics
On the International Day of the Tropics we are in the Banyak Islands which draw in millions of visitors annually. Made up of a group of 99 islands, most of which are uninhabited and unnamed, the Banyak Islands offer kilometres of pristine sandy beaches, lush green trees and crystal-clear waters as far as the eyes can see. This untouched tropical paradise also boasts some great surfing spots, making it the perfect vacation destination for anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing experience sprinkled with some adventure.
The tropics, or tropical zone, make up almost one-third of the earth's landmass and are home to a large population of people and astounding biodiversity. Observed every year on June 29, International Day of the Tropics celebrates the uniqueness of the tropics, their beauty and diversity. It also highlights the challenges they face, such as climate change, deforestation and urbanisation, not to mention the far-reaching implications of these issues on the rest of the world.
