The envy of postcards and snow globes. Colle Santa Lucia, Dolomites, Italy
The image of this tiny village on the slopes of the Dolomite Mountains is so picturesque, we'd understand if you mistook it for a movie set. Colle Santa Lucia is a pretty and welcoming town in Italy with about 400 residents. Despite its location in Italy's northern reaches, the town is more typically Austrian than Italian and is only a stone's throw from the Austrian border state of Tyrol. And like its Austrian neighbours, Colle Santa Lucia is known for its peaks and ski resorts. The village has more in common with wintry Innsbruck than sunny Venice, which is only 60 miles away to the south. After all who would ever let go of an opportunity to catch a glimpse of the giant yet elegant Dolomite mountains. A mountain range that successfully attracts thousands of visitors per year.
