Love island?. Valentine's Day
Heart-shaped islands are more common than you might think and are found all over the world, from Australia to Germany. Our tropical homepage island is found in the honeymoon hotspot of the Maldives, the perfect place to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s one of more than 1,000 islands in the Republic of Maldives, the smallest nation in Asia, found 470 miles from the continent’s mainland. It's one of the least populous and smallest Asian nations by land area, although it covers 35,000 square miles, if you include its waters.
It is also the flattest country in the world, with a maximum elevation above sea level of just 8ft (2.4m). With much of the land just under 5ft above the water, the country is vulnerable to rising sea levels. So, if you need a reason to care about global warming, keep this precious spot close to your heart.
