Info. Tulip field in Miesbach, Bavaria, Germany
The Netherlands might be the tulip capital of the world, but our photo shows the colourful spring flowers about 700 kilometres away in the German town of Miesbach, just under an hour's drive south of Munich. There are over 150 species of tulips with more than 3,000 different varieties. They come in a range of bright colours as you can see in our picture, and each colour is said to have a different meaning. Red tulips are strongly associated with true love, while purple tulips represent royalty, and pink tulips are a symbol for caring and good wishes. Yellow tulips are known for cheerfulness, and white tulips symbolise forgiveness and purity.
