A tube anemone
This tube anemone was photographed in a marine biology lab in Florida, lit to show off the bright color of its tentacles. To see this species in the wild, you’d need to do some diving in either the Indian or Pacific Ocean, where the tube anemone spends daylight hours in retreat, drawn back into the tube portion of its body, nestled in the soft earth of the seabed. But after sunset, the tentacles emerge to wave in the current, catching food that passes by.
