It’s National Science Week!
If you know your periodic table like your times tables and your Argon from your Uranium, then there’s a good chance you also know that we’re currently in the middle of National Science Week! Running from August 15 - 23, the annual event was established in 1997 in an attempt to ‘acknowledge the contributions of Aussie scientists to the world of knowledge’ and spark the scientific imagination of youngsters. These days, it also helps develop the future of local scientists with the Australian Government providing up to $500,000 for the National Science Week Grants Program – to support the delivery of science engagement activities.
While National Science week is typically marked with more than 1000 events taking place across schools, universities, libraries, and even our homepage star of the day, Questacon, obviously 2020 has to operate a little differently. As a result, many events and activities are being held online, and can be completed by children and adults alike.
