The valleys of Munnar
Nestled in the Western Ghats lies the hill station Munnar. Popular as a honeymoon and trekking destination, the town rests at an elevation of 1600 metres above sea level. Most of the natural flora and fauna of Munnar have now disappeared thanks to habitat fragmentation. The government of Kerala has taken efforts to preserve what’s left, with seven reserves/national parks and one more in the pipeline. While this year Munnar won’t see many visitors thanks to the pandemic, it is worth making a note of, for when things open and one is able to travel again.
