'The Eclipse' by Jacob Hashimoto. Art in the chapel
If you happen to find yourself in New York City before October 31, get to Governor’s Island in New York Harbor to see artist Jacob Hashimoto’s installation ‘The Eclipse.’ The Colorado native built this room-filling piece out of rice-paper and bamboo kites, stringing the delicate pieces across the ceiling of the harbour’s Chapel of St. Cornelius. ‘The Eclipse’ was part of a separate display in Venice, Italy, and is accompanied by another of the artist’s works, ‘Never Comes Tomorrow’, which can be found in a different location on the island.
