Burnham-on-Sea Low lighthouse in Somerset
When you think of what a lighthouse looks like, you probably don't imagine a structure that resembles a shed on stilts. The distinctive Low lighthouse in Burnham-on-Sea is one of three lighthouses in the Somerset seaside town, but the only one which is still active. Affectionately known as the lighthouse on legs, it was built in 1832 and stands 36 feet high on nine wooden pillars with plate metal reinforcements.
