To celebrate Mardi Gras this year, join us in the heart of New Orleans' Vieux Carré, or French Quarter. Carnival season traditionally begins on Jan 6, with the feast of the Epiphany, and steadily gathers steam as it leads up to Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), the day before the Lenten season of repentance and moderation starts. The party's been spilling out onto the streets for a couple of weeks already, culminating today with massive parades and nonstop music.
