I spy…
One good eye deserves another, and the camera eye was fortunate to find this oculus outlining a sub-Saharan sunrise. Just to the left of these rigid lids, the thumblike peak called Spitzkoppe rises above the rest, lending its name to the region at large, including the jagged Pontok Mountains framed within the eye. From this vantage, the two massifs resemble a resting, hard-headed beast—not unlike the rhinoceroses that once roamed this part of Namibia, as suggested by rock art left by Indigenous peoples in bygone days.
