Passage to the plains

Meadows roll steeply to form foothills all across Moravia, a historical region of Central Europe. Part of the modern Czech Republic, its billowing topography is a hint to its strategic importance. Moravia is defined by a system of valleys that link the North European and Great Hungarian plains, so it's taken an outsized place in geopolitical history. To dig even deeper into the past, large mammals like mammoths once migrated through the Moravian gaps, and clever prehistoric humans settled along the bottleneck for many a successful hunt.
