Fuerteventura, the second-largest of the Canary Islands by area, is well known for its many beaches and strong coastal winds that make it a hub for watersports like windsurfing. The interior of the isle couldn't be more different, as arid plains and volcanic peaks stand in ochre-tinted contrast to the wide blue Atlantic. Stick around after this intense golden hour and you'll experience yet another light show: Known as the Sicasumbre observation point, this spot that's low on light pollution is a popular hangout for astronomy buffs.
