In this long exposure photo, the snaking light trails of modern car headlamps complement the shine of a Mediterranean beacon built in 1893, while ancient stars set the night even more alight. This shot was likely taken in the offseason, since the road to Formentor Lighthouse is closed from about June to September to relieve tourism-fueled traffic jams. But summertime visitors can still walk, cycle, or charter a shuttle to this 19th-century tower that marks the northernmost cape of Majorca.
