Savanna sprinter
A medium-sized antelope, the springbok is native to the dry savannas of southern Africa, where it once migrated in large numbers. Today, springboks mainly live on wildlife preserves and protected areas, like this one seen at the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa. Both males and females of this savannah sprinter species feature distinctive harp-shaped horns: Our photo subject is a lady springbok, as evidenced by its shorter, slenderer headwear compared to the hulking horns seen on males.
