Witchy woods?
The Brothers Grimm are the most famous folklorists from this part of the world, and it's no wonder so many of the tales they collected were set in moody, enchanted woods. Made up of about 90 billion trees, Germany's forests cover roughly a third of the country's land area, and many are notoriously dense and dark. The most famous example is the Black Forest near the southern border, but ample canopies can be found all over: This autumn scene was captured in the woods of Ammerland, a swampy district near the North Sea coast where beeches dominate the tree-scape.
