Extra-large lovebirds

Sarus cranes are the tallest flying birds in the world, often reaching nearly 6 feet in height. Native to the Indian subcontinent, these cranes are known for their elaborate courtship dances and trumpeting mating calls. Sarus pairs mate for life, and in Indian mythology they symbolize love and fidelity, and their presence is considered a sign of good luck and a healthy ecosystem. Despite their cultural importance, sarus cranes are listed as vulnerable due to habitat loss. This crane couple has found a safe haven here in Jim Corbett National Park, India's oldest national park and a refuge for more than 600 animal species.
