Wreathed in mist and blushing with sunlight, the Taj Mahal is a clear standout in this city full of pristinely preserved Mughal architecture. Also remarkable are two lesser-known buildings that flank the famed marble mausoleum, lurking outside of frame in most iconic photos of the locale. The western building, nearer to us in this shot, serves as a mosque, while the further one is a jawab (meaning 'answer'): a near-identical ornamental structure built to complete the complex's symmetry.
