The mirror-calm surface of the Snake River reflects the majesty of the Teton mountain range here at Oxbow Bend, a favorite spot for wilderness photographers. Within the borders of Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park, these mountains are a protected habitat, as are the Snake River and the wetlands it supports. These lush wetlands make up only one of the park's several ecological zones. The different ecosystems range from the high slopes of the treeless alpine tundra, to the densely forested subalpine zone, and finally open out to a vast sweep of sagebrush plains and wetlands.
