Gazing on this wind-weathered ghorfa, you can almost hear banthas whinnying and feel twin suns beating on your back. Have we hyperspace-jumped to a galaxy far, far away? Not exactly: This isn't the planet Tatooine but rather the Tataouine district of southern Tunisia. To bring Luke Skywalker's desert homeworld to life for the original 1977 'Star Wars' film, director George Lucas used several filming locations in this region, and its name (with a slight spelling tweak) gained a permanent place in 'Wars' lore. (If you don't recognize this carved granary complex, Ksar Ouled Soltane, that's because it appeared only in the prequels.) Okay, enough of the movie-nerd history lecture—which way to the cantina?
