Well, look who both showed up in the same stripey outfit. Peer a little closer at this parent-child pair of zebras and you'll see each one's set of stripes is subtly different: As with fingerprints, no two are alike. Stripe patterns can identify individual zebras as well as their species. For example, plains zebras like these have stripes on their bellies, while their cousins the mountain zebra and Grévy's zebra do not.
