Today we’re at one of the most photographed lakes in the Canadian Rockies. Two Jack Lake in Banff National Park is named after two friends called – you guessed it - Jack. Located just 10 kilometres northeast of Banff Town, the lake is a popular tourist destination for its picturesque blue-green water and sweeping views of Banff National Park’s most prominent mountains - Cascade Mountain and Mount Rundle.
While Canadian winters can be chilly, the snowy peaks and frozen lake (which begins to freeze around December and stays that way until May) make for a picture-perfect visit. By mid-June the lake is completely thawed, and visitors can take full advantage of the short summer window. Summer activities include swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and hiking the 4.7-kilometre trail. The warm season may roll in slowly in the Canadian Rockies, but it’s worth the wait!
