Today we're visiting Canada's tallest mountain, the 19,551-foot-high Mount Logan, which is part of the St. Elias Mountain range. Located in Yukon, the smallest and westernmost of Canada's three territories, this majestic peak is also the second tallest in North America—only Alaska's Denali is taller.

Mount Logan is part of Kluane National Park and Reserve and gets its name from Sir William Logan, founder of the Geological Survey of Canada. It's surrounded by several big glaciers and is mostly composed of granitic rock. Due to ongoing tectonic activity underneath the mountain's massive base, the peak has actually grown taller since accurate measurements of it began in the 1990s.
