Yungbulakang Palace in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China
According to legend, Yungbulakang was the first building in Tibet and the palace of the first Tibetan king, Nyatri Tsenpo. Said to be over 2,100 years old, the ancient structure was converted into a Buddhist hermitage in the 1600s. As you read this, repairs and restoration work are in progress to reopen the building for public tours in April this year.
