Javan tree frog

This vividly coloured Javan tree frog is one of the many creatures we might celebrate during National Frog Month, which starts today. A critical part of the food chain, frogs eat pests like mosquitos, flies, spiders, and even mice.

Sadly, it is estimated that at least 200 species of frogs have gone extinct in the last five decades. And many fear that it may be the herald of a much bigger biodiversity loss. Even the smallest changes, such as being more wary of how we dispose and manage our trash, can be immensely beneficial for sustaining their presence on our planet. And thus, we must ensure that we do everything we can to safeguard not just these beautiful amphibians, but all of our flora and fauna.
