White-throated dipper at Tufa Dam, on the River Lathkill in Derbyshire, England
A hike through Lathkill Dale in Peak District National Park should always include a stop at the Tufa Dam on the River Lathkill. There’s a good chance you’ll see a white-throated dipper standing in or near the water, bending and bobbing and finally making a move to catch a meal—maybe a beetle, small fish, or amphibian.
