Floating mailboxes. Sea Village, Granville Island
Sea Village joined Granville Island after the marina for floating residences was moved from its former location in Coal Harbour. As part of their dedication to sustainability and reducing energy use, residents construct eco-friendly homes using recycled building materials, heat pumps, solar panels, natural ventilation, and shared utilities. In the 1970s, Granville Island began to successfully transform from an industrial wasteland to one of Vancouver's most valued open spaces. Since it is Vancouver's top creative and cultural hub, millions of people from Vancouver and around the world visit this unique location every year. It has a deep industrial and maritime history and is located in an urban waterfront environment.
