Info. Riquewihr, France
Nestled between mountains and vineyards, the medieval town of Riquewihr is a picturesque village in eastern France. It was one of the few towns in the area not to be badly damaged during World War II. A lot of the buildings and colourful homes date from the 16th and 17th centuries, and many still have the attractive courtyards, wells and fountains from that time. The cobbled streets are lined with half-timbered houses, shops and restaurants.
Winemaking is very important in this region. Riquewihr is one of the villages along the Alsace Wine Route. It is one of the most famous wine routes in France, stretching 170 kilometres through wine-producing towns and gorgeous villages like Riquewihr.
