Info. Aerial view of tidal channels in marshland, Mockhorn Island, Virginia, USA
We’re looking down on Mockhorn Island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in the United States. The barrier island along the Atlantic coast consists mainly of rugged tidal marshland, which is visible during low tide, but most of this area is underwater the rest of the time. The green vegetation you see is cordgrass that grows in coastal salt marshes like this one. The only way to access the tidal channels of Mockhorn Island is by boat. The area is a great destination kayakers and bird watchers, as many bird species fly directly overhead while migrating.
