A must-sea attraction. Plenty of fish in Atlanta
When the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta opened in 2005, it was the largest in the world. (It has since been surpassed but remains the biggest fish in the United States.) The aquarium contains more than 100,000 marine animals, and perhaps most prominent in its menagerie is the presence of whale sharks. The 6.3-million-gallon tank that houses more than one whale shark – the world’s largest fish – was such a massive effort, the rest of the aquarium was designed around it.
