Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Kolkata is a wonderful sight lit-up at night during puja. Kali puja is usually performed at night, thanks to the goddess’ reputation of battling darkness and evil. Legend has it, that once when Kali went on a rampage destroying evil forces, she got carried away, destroying everything in sight! This is when Lord Shiva came in her path and threw himself under her feet. Kali stuck her tongue out in astonishment, and now you know why all the idols are built this way!
